Does your organization possess a true Strategic Architecture?
For many SME leaders, the line between operations management and strategic leadership is often blurred. The urgency of day-to-day work frequently overshadows the long-term vision, turning growth into a crisis-management challenge rather than a structured expansion.
A robust strategy is more than just an intent. It is manifested by the ability to maintain a defensible competitive advantage, organizational agility, and impeccable resource alignment.
Today, I propose a quick self-assessment tool, based on the fundamental pillars of business strategy that we discuss on the podcast and in this weekly newsletter.
I invite you to evaluate your organization on a scale of 1 (Strongly Disagree) to 5 (Strongly Agree).
Strategic Health Quick Self-Diagnostic
| The 10 Pillars of Strategic Architecture | Score (1-5) |
| 1. Offer Clarity: Our value proposition is so distinctive that our clients and prospects immediately identify what differentiates us from the competition, without us having to justify our positioning. | [ ] |
| 2. Customer Insight: We possess a deep understanding of our clients' critical challenges (their operational “pains”) and our offering is specifically designed to address them. | [ ] |
| 3. Price Dependency: Our market share is based on perceived added value and the quality of the client experience, rather than on a low-price strategy or systematic discounts. | [ ] |
| 4. Barrier to Entry: We have intangible assets, unique expertise, or proprietary processes that protect our market position against the arrival of new competitors. | [ ] |
| 5. Price Elasticity: The organization possesses Pricing Power, allowing us to adjust our rates to absorb inflation or protect our margins without significant customer loss. | |
| 6. Innovation: We have established a culture of continuous improvement and exploration that has led, over the past 12 months, to a concrete innovation in product, service, or business model. | [ ] |
| 7. Vision Clarity: Our vision inspires and describes what it means to win over a realistic horizon. The resulting strategic objectives are documented, communicated, and understood by all employees, from the executive committee to operational staff. | [ ] |
| 8. Speed of Adaptation: Our organizational structure and decision-making processes allow us to reallocate resources and pivot in the face of a market disruption in less than 90 days. | [ ] |
| 9. Strategic Blind Spots: We use external validation mechanisms (advisory boards, audits, or systematic client feedback) to identify threats and opportunities outside our immediate field of vision. | [ ] |
| 10. Strategic Alignment: The allocation of our capital and human resources is rigorously aligned with our strategic priorities, excluding projects that do not serve the long-term vision. | [ ] |

Analysis and Interpretation of Results
45 to 50 points — Strategic Excellence: Your organization demonstrates exceptional strategic maturity. It is resilient and dominates its ecosystem. Your challenge is now to avoid complacency and monitor major technological disruptions.
35 to 44 points — Solid Performance: The foundations are sound, but operational friction or a lack of differentiation could limit your long-term profitability. A refinement of your Value Proposition would be beneficial.
25 to 34 points — Strategic Risk Zone: Your organization is likely trapped in reactive management. Price Dependency is often high, and internal Alignment is imperfect. This is where external support provides the greatest added value to secure growth.
Under 25 points — Urgency for Recovery: The current business model is vulnerable. A profound reassessment of the Strategic Architecture is necessary to prevent a degradation of competitive position and profitability.
